We're adjusting!!!

After 3 weeks, I've finally found time to write on here!! So how are we managing two kiddos? Some days, not so well! Just joking, we've had some good days, and some not so good days over the past few weeks. It's definitely been an adjustment for us (mainly Addisyn), but we're finally settling into a routine. I've told many people that having a second baby isn't difficult at all, its dealing with an almost 2 year old that's given me many gray hairs!!

When we first came home from the hospital, Addisyn was in love with Ben. She still is, but has learned she doesn't have to touch him constantly! She's gone through every emotion in the book, but I think she's finally back to her old self.

Ben, so far, has been such an easy baby. He does exactly what he's supposed to, and rarely cries. He's now sleeping for 5-6 hours straight overnight - yippee!!! I'm definitely enjoying every bit of my sleep. Tonight we were finally able to give him his first real bath. He had a few delays in the healing of his circ site, and his umbilical cord finally came off - with Addisyn's help!!

Figuring out how to manage the two of them, along with cooking and cleaning seems a bit overwhelming still. We've been fortunate to have meals provided, thanks to my wonderful mom's group! It makes me sad that the service is now over and I'll actually be cooking dinner - all week. I'll miss the warm, delivered to my door, meal and desserts!! And lucky for me, my mom is helping with the housework. I'll be sad when that ends too!! We've conquered outings, just the three of us, and Ben has been to several restaurants already. Getting out of the house is much easier than I thought it would be - now to work on arriving on time!!

This weekend we celebrated Addisyn's 2nd birthday with our families. Addisyn's big present from the grandparents and us was a swingset (or weeeeee....). She's so happy when she's on the sliding board! We've been blessed with such wonderful weather so most of her party was spent playing outside.

And today is Brad's 36th birthday. We let him decide how he wanted to spend it - so he chose to fertilize the lawn!!! Enjoy the many pics and we'll try to update more frequently!!

Our first outing

So this is how I think I'll be able to cook - Addisyn playing in the sink,
Ben napping in the bouncy seat,
and me, making a mess!
And what does Addisyn do while I'm nursing Ben?? She looks for food, colors on walls, and takes off her diaper!! I prefer the searching for food!!!

Big kids can have fun too, right?!

1st pediatrician's visit and update on our week

Ben had his first outing on Monday to the doctor's office. He weighed 7 lbs 6 oz, so we're almost back to birthweight. We've had a fairly uneventful week so far. We've just been hanging out at home and letting Brad and nanny take care of the three of us!

We gave Ben his first bath, and like most babies, he hated it! Addisyn is still very much in love with her brother, and showers him with kisses all day. Fortunately some of the newness of him is wearing off, so she's finally been able to let him rest without touching him all the time.

Being a mom for the second time around does seem easier. I find that I'm not second guessing what I do - I just do it! With Addisyn I was always in such a rush for her to reach the next milestone, but this time I'm going to try my hardest to keep Ben from growing!!!! These first weeks are so precious, and they go by so fast, that I don't want to wish them away.

Due....

The day is officially here. For some reason, I didn't think we'd make it to today. I assumed he would arrive early - guess this momma has no clue! I thought today would be a bad day, and it actually didn't start off the greatest. Addisyn woke up at 3 am, for the first time in I can't remember, that combined with the 3 potty wake-up calls left me dragging to start my day. Then I was pulled over while on I81 - its been over 10 years since I've been pulled over! Apparently going 65 in a 55 is not acceptable. Fortunately for me, today is my due date, and I made sure the cop knew it! So I was let off with a warning. The funny thing is I was more mad that he had the nerve to pull me over!! On my due date!!!!
Our day quickly turned around and we enjoyed playtime with some friends at Red Bridge, then lunch with another friend. And after a 2 hr nap for me and 3 for Addisyn, we're charged and ready for the evening!
So here is my very last belly comparison pics and Miss Addisyn's 23 month picture. My baby is growing so fast!
40 weeks today!

Just shy of 40 weeks with Addisyn

Family Fun

Today was an absolutely perfect day to play in the snow! The temperature was great and the snow was perfect for packing. Brad built Addisyn a huge snowman while Addisyn and I gathered the supplies to decorate him with.
Addisyn also participated in her first snowball fight - unfortunately she throws like her momma - guess we won't be signing her up for softball anytime soon!! Here's a short video of her attempting to throw a snow ball at Brad - her laugh makes me smile everytime I hear it!

No signs of Little Man arriving anytime soon. And believe me...I'm doing everything I can come up with to make things happen. I'm even drinking red raspberry tea in hopes that it will speed this process up. You would think after a day of playing in the snow, a long walk around the development, and scrubbing my kitchen floor for the second time in days that something would happen!! One good thing with him taking his good old time is that we've finally decided on a name. I'd share it with you, but we've decided to keep it a secret since we are only days away from meeting him!

39 Weeks!!!

My doctor's appointment went well yesterday. I'm officially 2-3 cm and 50% effaced. So we're making some progress. Little Man is still just as active and must be pretty cozy where he's at! I gained another 2 lbs, so I've officially passed my weight gain with Addisyn - but just by 1 lb! I think we can live with that!! My doctor gave me a deadline as to how many days past my due date they will allow me to go, so we set up a tentative induction on the 26th, but are hoping he comes before that.
Yesterday was not the best of days for me. I reached that point in the pregnancy when you feel as if it will never end - obviously the day way will come, but it still seems so far away! And it doesn't help when everyone you know asks, are you still pregnant?! It takes so much for me not to come back with, no, I had my baby and am just fat now. And the crazy thing is the people who are asking such a dumb question are all women who've had babies - so obviously they know how you feel those last few days/weeks! I was so frustrated leaving my appointment because I'm so ready to have him now, but I don't want to be induced, and am so tired of being so big - so I did what every emotional pregnant chic does, cry to your mom! And she must of felt real bad for me because I ended up with a delivery from Edible Arrangements...yummy!!

So today I'm trying to more positive and enjoy however many days are left of this pregnancy. I've been having contractions like crazy since early this morning, but after my nap they've seemed to come to a stop yet again! Maybe things will kick into gear over night??
Here is hopefully what will be the last of belly pics - and it seems I'm still growing!
