After seeing the lightest dusting of snow falling to the ground, Addisyn pretty much pasted her face to the window! So we made a trip out back to play! Its days like these that make me so thankful to not work a Monday-Friday job!

Winter Fun

Brad and I decided to start a fun winter family activity - skiing/snowboarding! This was my first time out in at least 13+ years, and Brad's first attempt at snowboarding. So we signed up for a lesson, and off we went! They offered free childcare during the lesson, so it made it that much easier for us to go. Not to brag, but I'm pretty good! Once I figured out how to put the skis on, I was good! Now Brad, that's another story! After asking someone for help, he finally managed to get the board on - and that's where the trouble started! We were on the slopes ready to go by 2ish, but our lesson wasn't until 3:30, so we had plenty time to watch Brad flip, fall, you name it - he did it! Thankfully the instructors were great and were able to teach Brad some basics with boarding. We will definitely need to keep practicing our new skills, and hopefully, we'll be able to get the kids out with us soon!
After an afternoon on the slopes, we finished the day with snow tubing with the kiddos. Addisyn absolutely loved it! Ben wasn't overly impressed with the big hills, but he did enjoy the kiddie hill. It was definitely a fun day for all!

Addisyn's first day of school!

Addisyn started preschool today!!! She was so excited for the big day. We talked about it, decorated her bucket, and even picked out her outfit. Our morning started off with a trip to Dunkin Donuts. I wanted to come up with some tradition for the first day of school, so I thought donuts would be a nice treat.
We headed over to the school and Addisyn was all for going. She walked in like she had been going there her entire life, and really didn't care when Ben and I left.
On the way out, there is a window the kids can look out of and watch as you go - this is when the big brown sad puppy dogs eyes came out!!

At pickup, I was told that Addisyn cried for a little bit after we left. And Addisyn told me she just wanted her mommy to come back and she just couldn't stop crying - breaks your heart! Even with the tears, she told me that she wants to go back on Thursday and she had a good time! I know sending her to preschool will help her in so many ways, and I'm sure as the weeks go on, the tears will be gone! I can't believe she's growing so quickly :(

The rest of July!

July was hotter than hot this summer! Most days, the kids and I played at the local pools. Addisyn took swim lessons twice this summer and has really improved! She is finally no longer afraid of getting her face wet and just loves swimming. And Ben is content to play with a bucket and stick!

I just loved how every day before her lessons at the club they started out with a little pep talk. Addisyn listened so carefully to every word Mark said!

With Addisyn getting older and being able to sit for longer periods of time, we decided to take her to her first movie - at the Drive In Theater! Cars II was playing, and even though she had never seen the first, we figured it would keep her attention. Ben tagged along for the ride and was only interested for maybe the first five minutes. Overall, I think the kids enjoyed the picnic in the back of the car and sitting outside at the tv in the sky!

We made our first trip of the year to Brad's parents house a few weekends ago. I am so thankful that our kids have always been such good travelers - makes 4 hr car trips fairly easy. We had a fun weekend planned including a trip to a nearby lake. The kids absolutely loved it and the water was so warm it felt like bath water!

With our big vacation not being until September, Brad and I were starting to get antsy at home, so we made a quick trip to Ocean City with the kiddos! The weather was perfect and it was just what we needed to get us through till September.

We're getting down to our last few weeks of summer. Before we know it, school will be in session and gymnastics will be in full swing again! Thankfully a trip to Myrtle in September lets us squeeze out just a little more sun before the year is over!!
