Addisyn's 3 year checkup and birthday pics
Addisyn's three year check-up was today - we're so fortunate that the last time Addisyn was at the doctor's was for her 2 year check-up! This girl is still growing like crazy! She now weighs 40 lbs (97th%) and is 39 inches (89th%)!!!! For being a shy child, she quickly warmed up to the doctor and answered all of her questions. We started celebrating Addisyn's birthday a few days early with a small party at home. The girl was so excited to know that her friends and family were all coming over to see her! Addisyn talked non-stop about her birthday as soon as Ben's was over. Birthdays to me are the most special day of the year, and I always want to make it a point to make my kiddos feel special on their day. And even though Addisyn was super shy when all the attention was on her, I think we succeeded in making her feel special!
Her own special cake!
This was a present from Addisyn's Great Aunt - nothing cuter than matching child and doll bathing suits!

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!!
After their nails were done, we went to our favorite lunch spot - Montezumas! I made sure the guys knew it was Addisyn's birthday. She was slightly embarassed when they starting singing to her and put the giant hat on her head - but that quickly passed when she realized the treat they put on the table in front of her!
Our day of celebration isn't over yet...when Brad gets home we will have round 3 of cake then are planning on making a special trip to the store and letting Addisyn spend a little of her birthday money. I would put money on her picking out something for her babies!!

Ben's 1 yr check-up and party pics
Little man had his check-up yesterday and is doing great! Developmentally he's right on track! He now weighs 24 lbs 6 oz and is 29" long. Ben got another round of immunizations and fortunately for us, didn't seem to be bothered by them. On with the party pics! We celebrated on Ben's actual birthday, last Saturday. The party was planned around a cute invitation I found online.

I didn't go crazy with the decorations - we just tried to keep it color coordinated and cute! This was my attempt at cutout sugar cookies - the letter B and number 1
Ben's cakes were made by Garry Swope, the same guy who made Addisyn's 1st birthday cake.
He wasn't overly impressed with digging into the cake on his own....
but sure did love it when Nanny fed him!
Our family!
The Watkins and Williams family (minus Tori)
One of Ben's favorite presents
Little man hates wearing hats, but we had to get him one. He managed to let the hat on for maybe 15 seconds, just long enough to snap a picture!
It's so hard to believe that Ben is 1. Where does the time go???

The differences
I was having a conversation with some friends the other day about the differences between having a boy vs a girl. We all are fortunate to be the mommies of both. We compared stories about our drama girls and wild boys! And we talked about which child was more loving and who was the more outgoing one. The one thing that we all were in agreement with, is that there is something special about a little boy. Don't get me wrong, baby girls are special too, but there is something different about the bond between a mommy and her baby boy.
Before I ever had kids, I knew I always wanted a little girl - many little girls to be truthful! I would dream about dressing her up and fixing her hair and doing all the mom/daughter things. And when we found out Addisyn was a girl, I was beyond thrilled. And then when we found out we were having another baby, part of me really wanted for it to be another girl - but boy am I so glad we got Ben. I never dreamed about having a little boy, but I am so thankful that he was given to us. What I never knew was just how precious a little boy can be. Little boys are amazing. There is something about his sweet little face, that when he looks at me, it just makes my heart melt. It amazes me that I can love both my children equally, but yet have different bonds with them. Addisyn will always be my baby girl I dreamed of, and Ben, he's my special, little man.
