Beating the Heat

The past few weeks the weather has been near unbearable. Many days and evenings are spent at the pool trying to keep cool! Addisyn is doing a wonderful job keeping herself up with just her arm floaties and Ben just loves his boat!

Ben is 5 months old!!

Little man is growing quick!! So what's Ben been up to lately? He is working at sitting up unsupported and is loving playing with his toys. I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing a tooth or two pop through on his bottom gums sometime soon. He is drooling like crazy and chewing everything in site. Ben is such a happy little man - he smiles at everyone and laughs frequently. He is now wearing a size 2/3 diaper and 9 mos clothing. We're getting ready to start cereal possibly this week - so I'll be sure to video it!

Happy 5th Anniversary Brad!!!

5 years ago, on this beautiful day, Brad and I were married! It was a steamy 117 degrees - perfect weather for an outdoor wedding!!! Looking back on that day, I'm still more than happy with how everything turned out. We didn't do the traditional church ceremony with the reception afterwards, because that wasn't us. We had a perfect small group of family and friends to witness our beautiful ceremony on the grounds at Caesar's Palace, and a nice dinner following it. I wouldn't change a thing about that day, or about the last 5 years. Not every day has been easy, but that's life. Brad and I have learned and are continuing to learn from eachother and are just trying to enjoy eachothers company. I'm so lucky to have found such a wonderful guy to spend my life with!
Last year I posted some pics from the wedding, so this year I'll share some from our 1 year anniversary.

Little Momma

Addisyn is turning into such a wonderful little mommy to Ben. Monday, as I was cooking dinner, she sat on the floor and read him stories.

Then just this morning I left the room for not even a minute and this is what I found when I returned -

Addisyn was to be changing into her bathing suit, but instead she decided to undress Ben and change his diaper! I keep telling her that one day soon Ben isn't going to lay there and be her doll baby!!
Today we met up with Tricia and the girls at the sprinkler park. Haylee and Addisyn always have a good time together - regardless of the pushing, taking of toys, etc!! Ben and Kayla took a little dip to cool down - Ben seemed to enjoy it, but Kayla not so much!

Sesame Place

We took a trip to Sesame Place with the Williamson's yesterday. The kiddos had a wonderful time and I'm sure us adults did too!! With the crazy temps, we chose to stay in the waterpark to keep cool. Addisyn loved seeing the characters and enjoyed the lazy river the best!

4th of July

We celebrated the 4th with a cookout with my parents and watching the fireworks at Memorial Park. Addisyn wasn't sure about the fireworks when they first started, but she quickly got a huge smile on her face and loved watching them! Her favorite word of the night was boom!!

Ben's bedtime is at 9, so he wasn't the happiest of campers until he was able to fall asleep. Then he slept right through them!

And this is the best picture we could get of the four of us!

Today I put Ben in the pool for the very first time. With this insane heat, its near impossible to take him outside. So on a day as hot as today is, the pool was the place to be. He seemed content in the water with us!

Ben is 4 months old!!

Ben turned 4 months last week. I say this every month, but boy is time flying! And I know I'm a bit biased, but is he not the cutest thing ever??!! His personality is really starting to come out now. He's laughing more often, and loves to watch everything Addisyn does. He went through a bit of a cranky phase for a few weeks, but once we figured out he wasn't napping enough, those moments dwindled down. Ben had his doctor's appointment on Tuesday and all is well. He's up to 17 lbs 8 oz and is 25 inches long. I really doubt the length though - the nurse did it so quickly and didn't have his little body straight before she measured. Oh well! He had another round of vaccines and handled them great. We got the green light to start cereal, but I think I'm going to wait another month or two. I'm really in no rush and he seems content with just nursing and doesn't pay any attention to us when we are eating. We're getting so close to my all time favorite baby stage - the 6 month old happy-go-lucky baby!!
Addisyn started gymnastics at Wilson last week. She was a little hesitant at first, but after one class, she loves it! I just love watching her little face light up when its her turn to go down the tumble track! I really hope as Addisyn grows that we can find an activity she loves. Maybe gymnastics will be it??!! And after just two classes, she can now do a somersault all by herself!
